There are a lot of things to take into account when trying to burn body fat. HIIT is great for that, of course, but even intense exercise isn't everything. We'd all love to eat a whole chocolate cake after every workout and still look how we want, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. You still have to eat right.
Fortunately, it doesn't have to be a chore to keep up with your diet. Here are a couple of quick suggestions of what to eat after a workout to help your body repair.
Bananas and Peanut Butter
This is a healthy and delicious snack, and it's easy to pull the components out of the pantry and chow down immediately after an intense HIIT session. This food is rich in protein and carbs, and low in calories - perfect for building muscle and burning fat.
If you want some crunch, you can substitute the bananas for apple slices. You can also use almond butter if you have peanut allergies but can tolerate tree nuts.
Protein Shake
Whether you buy the mix yourself, or whether you go to a smoothie shop near you, protein shakes and smoothies are a great option. They are formulated to have just what your body needs post-workout; not only is it quick, it also takes the guess-worl and research out of the equation.
It's important to refuel immediately after exercise so that your body can begin to repair the muscle fibers damaged in the process. Remember that protein, carbohydrates, and hydration are all essential for an effective exercise regimen.
