3 Keys to Good Health

As we get older, it’s harder to stay in shape. You don’t necessarily have to spend five days a week in the gym, or pound protein shakes every day. Just remember that it is important to maintain your physical health like you would with your house or car.

The first place to start is with a healthy diet. As cheesy as it sounds, try following the food guide pyramid. It not only tells you what you should be eating every day, it also tells you how much. In addition to eating right, make sure that you are getting enough water. Doctors recommend 8 cups a day.

The next step is exercising regularly. Even if you can’t get to a gym, you can still incorporate exercise into your life. Do pushups during every commercial break while you’re watching T.V. Run to the mailbox instead of walking or driving. Bring your knees higher to your chest when walking up and downstairs. Swing your arms while you are walking. Exercising during your daily routine will help keep you in shape.

Just as it is important to be active, it is just as important to get rest. Getting 8 hours of sleep a day will help keep you in tip top shape. Not sleeping enough means that your energy isn’t getting recharged like it should. Sleeping too much will leave you feeling sluggish and drained.

Maintaining your physical health is important, after all there is only one you. Following a healthy life guideline is essential to staying in shape and being your best you.
